The City of Beloit Fire Department, a department whose personnel are dedicated to the protection of life and property from fire, is currently accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. The City of Beloit Fire Department provides emergency services to nearly 37,000 residents of the City of Beloit, as well as assists surrounding communities. In addition to providing fire suppression and emergency medical services, the Department also provides services for swift water rescues, tactical emergency medical services, technical rescue, fire investigation, and public education and fire prevention. By providing a myriad of services to the Greater Beloit area, City of Beloit Firefighter/Paramedics are able to respond to a wide variety of calls, creating an environment where employees can cross train and excel in fields of interest in fire and rescue services.

This position is responsible for the protection of life and property from fire, including combating, extinguishing and preventing fires, answering emergency medical calls, extricating and rescuing individuals from fires and entrapment, first aid and emergency medical services, and maintenance of all Fire Department facilities, specialized fire apparatus and equipment.

*Lateral transfers who have completed at least one (1) year of continuous and uninterrupted service as a full-time employee of another municipal Fire Department will be eligible to receive vacation leave and wages in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement- Appendix C Lateral Transfer Hiring Policy.

 

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving

 

  1. A valid National Registry certification, a Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician- Basic License, or an approved EMT-basic license from another state.
  2. A valid Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician- Paramedic license or the ability to obtain said license within 24 months of hire or as otherwise determined by the Fire Chief.
  3. A valid Firefighter 1 Certification with the State of Wisconsin, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (Pro Board), or equivalent certification/training from another state.
  4. A valid IAFC/IAFF Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) Certificate upon

 

  1. A valid Firefighter 2 Certification with the State of Wisconsin, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), National Board of Fire Service Professional Qualifications (Pro Board), or equivalent certification/training from another state is preferred.
  2. Valid ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 Certifications from the National Incident Management System or the ability to obtain said certifications within 24 months of hire.
