Job Summary:


This position is for an IMC RN working 3x12 day shifts (0645-1915) in an acute care hospital setting. The role involves providing nursing care to patients with MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown needs, including cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and various case skills related to cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, genitourinary/renal, neurological/psychiatric, and respiratory conditions. The RN will float to like units as needed and must be proficient in Cerner charting.

Responsibilities:


- Provide skilled nursing care to patients in the IMC unit.
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
- Perform telemetry monitoring both on the unit and remotely.
- Manage patients post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TR band.
- Provide feeding tube care and management.
- Manage pre/post hemodialysis patients and patients with renal failure.
- Access ports, manage arterial lines, administer blood products, and provide care for central lines, peripheral lines, and PICC lines.
- Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), administer PCA, and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips.
- Care for patients with CVA.
- Manage surgical drains.
- Manage chest tubes, external CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks.
- Perform non-invasive airway management.
- Implement isolation precautions and provide wound care/wound vac.
- Float to like units as needed.
- Chart patient information using Cerner.

Required Skills & Certifications:


- Minimum 2 years of experience in MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown.
- ACLS and BLS certifications.
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois.
- Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
- Experience with telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote).
- Experience with post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TR band.
- Experience with feeding tube care and management.
- Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure.
- Proficient in accessing ports, managing arterial lines, administering blood products, and providing care for central lines, peripheral lines, and PICC lines.
- Experience in managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), PCA, and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips.
- Experience with CVA patients.
- Experience with surgical drains.
- Experience with chest tubes, external CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks.
- Proficient in non-invasive airway management.
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac.
- Cerner experience.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:


- Previous charge experience.
- Teaching hospital experience.
- Level I Trauma experience.

Special Considerations:


- Will work every other weekend.
- Will float to like units as needed.
- Required to work in MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings.
- Must have experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response.
- Must have experience with cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, genitourinary/renal, IV therapy/phlebotomy, medication, neurological/psychiatric, and respiratory case skills.
- RTO restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days.
